Although we call this a cavalier hat because of its connection to the Musketeers in the 17th century, it was actually made popular during the 16th century by the Lansquenets, German mercenary soldiers, who decorated them with cuts and slashes, braids and feathers....lots of feathers! Of course, it was worn much earlier and in other countries as well, but not as flamboyantly.
This listing is for a wide brim felt hat, pinned up on the side with a circle brooch and a long ostrich tail feather to tuck into the brim.
The hat crown is about 4” high and the brim is approx. 4 to 5” wide. Black only!
The ostrich feather is approx. 18-24" long and the penannular circle brooch is 1 3/4 wide and has a 2 1/4" tang.
Let us know if your want a brass or stainless steel circle brooch.

Got this as a gift for my friend's birthday, so he could feel like the bard he always plays in our D&D group! It fit him perfectly and brought a huge smile to his face!
