Although we call this a cavalier hat because of its connection to the Musketeers in the 17th century, it was actually made popular during the 16th century by the Lansquenets, German mercenary soldiers, who decorated them with cuts and slashes, braids and feathers....lots of feathers! Of course, it was worn much earlier and in other countries as well, but not as flamboyantly.
This Listing is for a wide brim felt hat, pinned up on the side with a stainless steel pennanular circle brooch and an attached faux leather hat band with one row of diamond shaped aluminum silver studs, perfect for adding the right amount of shine to your hat. Also available with a brass circle brooch and gold aluminum studs.
The hat crown is about 4” high and the brim is approx. 4 to 5” wide. Black only! The pennanular circle brooch is approx. 1 3/4" wide and has a 2 1/4" tang.
The hatband is 10mm or 3/8" wide and is not removable. It is held on with waterproof adhesive.
The wool felt body will be blocked and sized when finished.
