This captivating and elegant stirrup shaped sterling silver ring from the XXVIth Dynasty bears on its oblong cartouche the name of the Cat Goddess Bastet at Bubastis (modern Tell Basta) in the eastern Delta of Egypt.
The inscription reads:
"Bastet, Lady of Basta
the Eye of Re"
a benevolent omen of Re, the sun god, identified by the Egyptians as the deity of protection and life.
