PEAN is a heraldic "fur" or varied tincture with gold ermine spots on a black field, which dates to the mid 16th century. The word "pean" is derived from "pene" the Middle French word for "feather" with the Latin root, "penna."
ERMINOIS is a heraldic "fur" or varied metal with a gold background and black ermine spots. It is the same as Ermine, except the blackground is gold instead of silver.
