If your heart is mourning for a loved one, a political situation or the "good old days", this cockade will let everyone know how you feel. This smaller version of our folded cockade is made with 7/8" wide black grosgrain ribbon and measures approx. 3" across. It has a pewter shank heart button in its center. There is a bar pin on the back for attaching it to clothing or a cloth hat.
Heart available in silver or gold!
CAUTION: The pin will not go through a felt hat without bending and possibly breaking. Please stitch your hat side up with thread or a thin ribbon and then attach the pin to the stitching.
MOURNING COCKADES were traditionally worn by men, women, and children in the 1800's as a public expression of mourning or grief. They were almost always black but occasionally they would be white (for innocence), gold (worn by church for funerals), red (symbolizing the blood of martyrs) or patriotic colors (for military persons or public figures). Black cockades with red/white/blue streamers were worn after Lincoln's death and a few are still in existence today.
Convo us if you want a custom mourning cockade in a color other than black or if you want more than two!
You can find other cockades in the Hats & Headwear Section and in the Cockade & Rosette Section.
You can find other trims in the Supplies section.
