NOTE: These vintage items have never been worn. They have been in storage or on display in the shop for over 20 years and it is time for them to go! We are still taking pictures of rings, so keep checking back for new listing! Many are one of a kind so don't delay in getting the ones you like because they will not last long!
In keeping with the authenticity of the original pieces, these rings have not be coated with a non-tarnish finish like most modern rings. Unlike gold, sterling silver will naturally tarnish or dull as it reacts with the air or your skin; it may even turn your finger green because it is an alloy....92.5 silver and 7.5 copper. We recommend polishing your sterling silver jewelry with a dry silver polishing cloth available at most grocery or hardware stores. We do not recommend polishing with silver polish as this may remove the antiquing. When you are not wearing your jewelry, storing your silver in a jewelry bag will help prevent tarnishing.
LAWYERS RING HISTORY: The tradition of giving Serjeants-at-Law or Lawyers' rings upon admittance to the bar began in England sometime during the Plantagent period in the early 1400's. The rings were simple bands inscribed around the outside or inside with a legal verse in Latin sometimes referring to a contemporary event but more usually engraved with a verse referring to a legal ideal. The custom is referred to in the "De Laudibus Legum Angliac" in the 15th century.
Your purchase of these pieces helps support the museum community and independent jewelers dedicated to duplicating the workmanship of craftsmen from the past.
