This smaller version of our pleated cockade is made with 7/8" wide blue grosgrain ribbon and measures approx. 2.5" across. It has a pewter shank star button in its center. There is a bar pin on the back for attaching it to clothing or a cloth hat.
The button is available in silver and gold.
CAUTION: The pin will not go through a felt hat without bending and possibly breaking. Please stitch your hat side up with thread or a thin ribbon and then attach the pin to the stitching.
During the 1780 Gordon Riots in London the blue cockade became a symbol of anti-government feelings and was worn by most of the rioters.
Echoing their use when Americans rebelled against Britain, cockades – usually made with blue ribbons and worn on clothing or hats – were widespread tokens of southern support for secession preceding the American Civil War of 1861–1865
You can find other cockades in the Hats & Headwear Section and in the Cockade & Rosette Section.
You can find other trims in the Supplies section.
